Settings

Although The French Reconnection begins in St. Louis, the city of the arch and oppressive Fourth of July heat, it quickly switches to France.

One setting that features in the novel is Marseille.

Marseille is a city that doesn't attract as many tourists due to its gritty reputation, think the French Connection. Marseille maintains some amazing history. It's a place where you can be surrounded by France or by North Africa.

And the photo on the cover of my novel shows the famous Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde, standing guard, as the name implies, above the famous port town.

It's about time

I began working on The French Reconnection when I was still covering crime and justice stories for daily U.S. newspapers. Several years and trips later to Europe my debut novel is ready for your reading pleasure. I hope to announce a publishing date soon.

Here's a snapshot of what to expect:

A gruesome death at the St. Louis Gateway Arch reunites former lovers who learn they have two weeks to save their son and, while they’re at it, Europe’s democracies, from the clutches of an evil cabal. American reporter Milo Gordon and French cop Brielle Sauveterre fend off assassins as they search for the group recruiting terrorists to destabilize European governments. The cabal ultimately kidnap their 8-year-old son and six other French hostages. The agent and newspaper man find themselves in the middle of the ultimate battle of good vs. evil, centered in sun-drenched Provence and Marseille.
